They might work, but typically you'd want the letters "VJ" to match in the DCM. But, it's an older drive and I'd say there's a good chance they still work.

Also, there's no need to block the preamp with paper. In fact it's better not to do that. If it starts to spin, you know it didn't receive the boot signal. You'll know it received it when it doesn't try to spin.

The bottom corner two pins are RX and TX. I forget which is which, but you've got a 50/50 shot at guessing right the first time.

Yeah, as jol said, you'd need someone who has a tool like PC-3000 to read the HDD's service area (stored on the platters of the drive) and then build a working ROM code. We typically charge $450 for this service, just to give you a baseline.

Are the drives different? Not really. They are the exact same family drive and generally comparable in every way. Should you use them in a RAID? No, absolutely not. Green drives are not suited for RAID as their power-saving functions can lead to chaos in a RAID.

If you've got at least one system head that's working you can. You'd just need to modify the RAM to disable all but the good system head so it can ID and you can get that info from the drive. But, if there are no good heads, then no.

Ddrescue will generally stop if it has an issue reading or writing the data. So if it ran for six days I'm sure it was doing something. Perhaps try scanning that destination drive with some data recovery software such as R-Studio or Recovery Explorer and see what it finds. Maybe the MFT is...
