Time to Brush Up on Drobo Data Recovery

For a while, we used to recover data to our own internal drives on which we would send the data back to resellers. After they copied the data off, they would ship the drives back with the next project. Unfortunately, we were either not getting the drives back or they were coming back damaged...

How to Clone a Hard Drive With Bad Sectors Using ddrescue

    Apple PCIE SSD recovery

Up to now, there is no professional hardware solution that can handle PCIe SSDs. If you want to send it out to my lab, we'd be happy to see what we can do. But, the odds are, the controller has gone stupid and it is now past the point of return.

SD is a forensics Company now?

This is why I suggested to MRT to change their sales focus. Rather than try to pitch their systems as a low cost competitor to PC3000, they should be pitching it as a low cost spare system to relieve the stress from PC3000 system owners. Make it easy to not only convert a DE task from PC3000...

    Picture recovery

Your best bet is to do a full scan for all jpg files and see if you can find the missing file by looking at the thumbnails. Recuva kind of sucks, I'd try R-Studio to see if you get a better result. But, as Jared stated, it could be that the file contents are no longer stored on the card.

Seagate 7200.12 not detected in BIOS

Do you value the data on your drive. If it is a firmware issue, the cost for a pro would be low (~$300). If you try yourself and don't properly diagnose the root issue, you will likely kill the drive. That said, these drives are failing really bad these days. It is possible that it is toast...

    Introduction of MRT Pro

The problem is, there is little advantage to using MRT to image via the host OS. We'd be better of cloning with ddrescue in Linux where the host OS doesn't interfere with drive communication. When I clone a USB drive, I want all the same functionality I have with a SATA drive and this just...
