    If your data is of any value to you, it is best to stop and consider sending to a data recovery professional and be very thankful that your hard drive is a Western Digital and not a Seagate.

    I've always found that a dry swab is better than 99.9% IPA. Liquid gets contaminated as soon as it touches the dirty surface. Smudging it around doesn't make it any better. So, maybe a damp swab to get some of the debris free, then a dry swap to clean it off.

    The CSV is a list of what can be recovered from the drive and the VRFS is a log generated by UFS saving the state of the program so you can pickup where you left off. Neither file contains any data from the patient drive.

    So, you don't even hear it try to spin? Did you open and inspect it internally to be sure the spindle isn't stuck or the heads on the platters? If the PCB suddenly dies, sometimes the heads don't make it to parking position before the spindle stops spinning.

    Some drives won't spin with dead preamp. Also, try another PCB without ROM transfer just to see if it spins. You could also block the heads to see if it spins that way too.

    PC3000 only produces a text list of damaged files...not good files. So, we always save the recovery out, splitting good and damaged into folders of those names and then use SNAP2HTML to generate a file listing for client review. DeepSpar generates a SNAP2HTML-like report too.

    Just did a 1TB rosewood head change. Patient drive was clicking and not coming ready. With donor heads, clicked a little, came ready and ID's on PC3K. Both heads read, but head 0 is in rough shape.

    I've got a 2TB Rosewood with at least 2 of the 4 heads reading and mirroring. Unfortunately, the MBR and BS are not readable and it would appear that this drive is encrypted. Should be interesting to see how we make out with it, assuming that client accepts the quote.

    Good catch Jared, I didn't notice the USB PCB. Just assumed SATA with the Samsung drive. Yeah, I'd probably order the SATA cousin to this drive for parts and swap the PCB first, at the very least, to make it easier to work with after the head swap.

    Based on the stripe and assuming that the full 120GB overwrote every sector from the 120GB to a single drive, I'd suggest that the first 240GB of the data on the stripe is toast. That is unless the capacity of the files are smaller than the typical 64KB stripe size.
