Seagate F3 Rosewood Warning

In case you missed it, there is a warning on the Ace Lab blog about the Seagate Rosewoods. They are saying that special features in the firmware require handling these drives in a different manner than you might some other families. Reset SMART could lose data! Here are things you should not do because it could clear media cache and lose customer data for good.
1) Don't recount translator (ATA or Terminal)
2) Don't clear G-List
3) Don't reset SMART
4) Don't spare heads in ROM

Wow! Thanks for the tips. I hadn't seen that, but then they still haven't sent me the quote for my upgrade either.

I bet we'll be seeing a lot of cases where guys didn't see these warnings and will botch them up doing these operations.

I hope the software at least prompts with a clear warning message if you try to initiate one of these operations.
