Removing digital clothes with AI: What to expect

I’ve been seeing more and more tools online that claim to digitally remove clothes from images using AI. Out of curiosity, I gave a few of them a try. Some were just cheap filters, but a couple were surprisingly advanced — especially when the lighting and image quality were decent. That said, I didn’t really know what to expect going in. Sometimes it looked weirdly accurate, other times it was just a blur. For those who’ve experimented with these, what should someone realistically expect from these AI tools?

It really depends on the tool and the photo. Good results usually come from images where the body is clearly visible and there aren’t too many layers of clothing or accessories. I’ve used a few that didn’t work at all, but one labeled deepnude free actually surprised me with how smooth and realistic the rendering looked, especially on simple full-body shots. You shouldn’t expect perfection, but it’s impressive how far the tech has come.

Expectations matter a lot with these tools. They're not designed to create reality, just simulate a possible version of it based on visible features. If someone’s expecting exact replicas or real-life accuracy, they'll probably be disappointed. But for tech demos or visual effects, they’re actually kind of fascinating.
