Online auctions for bespoke minimalist decor

I'm curating a new ambient studio space and want some unique, one-off furniture pieces. I've been eyeing a few online boutique auctions that specialize in artisan-crafted minimalist designs. Has anyone had success bidding on these platforms, or is it better to just commission a local woodworker directly?

I won a beautiful ash wood credenza last month at an estate auction. The base price was great, but shipping an assembled piece across the country added a lot to the final cost. Always factor in freight and the standard twenty percent buyer's premium before you place your maximum bid.

It really depends on how specific your vision is for the studio. Auctions are fantastic for discovering rare pieces with natural patina, but modifying them later can ruin their value. Last year, I spent weeks tracking online estate sales for a specific style of floating shelving. Eventually, I realized that getting something newly manufactured was more practical. While exploring online platforms for personalized decor, I read some trending custom threads to see how the production quality of personalized items holds up over time. Ultimately, I went with a local artisan who matched my exact wood grain.
