Logistics for moving and storing oversized renovation materials?

I'm renovating an old industrial space and need to transport several heavy steel beams and oversized reclaimed wood panels from a salvage yard three towns over. My personal truck is way too small. How do you guys handle moving and temporarily storing heavy architectural materials without hiring a massive freight company?

I rented a heavy-duty flatbed trailer for a weekend and convinced a friend with a larger truck to help me haul my reclaimed timber. For storage, we leased a climate-controlled commercial unit near the site so the wood wouldn't warp before installation. It was surprisingly affordable overall.

Coordinating hot-shot deliveries for bulky building supplies is a hassle if you lack a commercial freight account. Last year, when I needed oversized drywall and metal framing moved to a residential site, I explored on-demand logistics apps that connect users with local drivers operating flatbeds. While researching how these platforms manage load security and dispatch routing, I came across some logistics threads mentioning Curri customer service alongside other delivery scheduling topics. I just hired an independent local courier who had a secure warehouse where I could safely keep the materials until the contractors finally arrived.
