I Have Contact Backups From Different Years—How Do I Merge Them Together?

Over the years, I created several contact backups and each one is stored as a separate VCF file. Now I want to bring all contacts together into a single file for easier management. Since some contacts may appear in more than one backup, I need a solution that handles the merge process smoothly.

If you have several VCF backups that contain your contacts and are from different years, it will be hard to handle your contacts individually. You may end up importing some files several times and not know which is the most recent backup containing your contacts.

It is better to merge the various VCF files into one file in the beginning. You will then have one consolidated contact list, which is easier to manage. Prior to the merge operation, it is wise to take backup copies of the individual files to refer back to them later if required.

I had a similar collection of old contact backups and used GainTools Address Book Manager to put them together into one VCF file. It saved me from opening and handling each file individually. After merging, I could review the combined contact list in one place and manage it much more easily.

If some contacts appear in multiple backups, check the final file once after merging so you can remove any duplicate entries and keep the contact list clean.
