How to Handle Large Archive Files and Switch Them Between Formats?

I often work with very large archive files for both work and personal projects, sometimes in formats such as ZIP, RAR, 7Z, or TAR.GZ. The main issue I face is that these files not only take up a lot of space but also become tricky to extract or share with others who may not have the right software to open them. Is there an efficient way to manage such large archives—like splitting them into smaller parts, compressing them better, or converting them into a more universally readable format (e.g., ZIP)?
