I got these locations for the magic sector from a post on hddoracle. They may save you some time searching, except there is no mention of Oxford.

Oxford are the enclosures with Firewire Bridge.

There is no mention of Oxford in that post because not all Oxford cases have a copy of the key at the surface or even in the SA. Key is present in ROM of the bridge only.

Here I have a copy of an Oxford key should it be useful for somebody.

I must say I've yet to see that. Every case I've done had a key sector and usually a backup in the SA. Good to know.

By, the way I've moved this topic out of the secrets section and into the Western Digital section. I can't see that there's anything about it which can't be shared publicly. Please correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Hey Guys

Thanks for all the replies.
I know the HDD PCB works with the Symwave chip. The PCB is bad.
So, the best way is to now image it again to a WD with the same chip, but another question pops up:
I don't have any WD USB or PCB available with the same chip, so I need to buy a new HDD, but is there also any hint on how to choose one with Symwave chip?
I could have the "luck" of getting one with Initio chip or even another...

Thanks

Maybe someone can send one to you? Since the Acelab update which allows live decryption from passport/mybook devices I imagine for a lot of people these adaptors are redundant.

I can check Monday if I have one, but I cant check until then. Maybe someone closer to you has one they can send to reach you quicker.

Post a clear picture of the chip and I can probably tell you which My Book board you'll need to use to decrypt the data. I've got a ton of them here, so all I have to do is look through them.
