Are modern employee benefits platforms actually worth it for small and mid-sized companies?

My company is considering switching from a traditional health reimbursement model to one of those newer flexible benefits platforms where employees allocate funds across wellness, commuting, or professional development. Has anyone actually deployed one of these at a company under 200 people? Is the administrative overhead manageable, or is it a headache?

We rolled one out last year for our 80-person logistics firm, and honestly the biggest win was reducing payroll paperwork. Employees loved choosing their own spending categories rather than receiving a rigid benefits package. The enrollment period takes some handholding, but after that the system mostly runs itself without much intervention.

Switching to a flexible benefits platform completely changed how our employees think about compensation. At my previous company, half the staff didn't even use their wellness stipend because the reimbursement process involved too many forms and weeks of waiting. With a card-based system, money gets spent because access is immediate and frictionless. While comparing different providers last quarter, I looked up the Benepass phone number to understand their contact structure before committing to a demo. The platform supports multi-category wallets, which suits companies with varied employee lifestyle needs. Always pilot with one department before rolling out company-wide.
