hi pclab
each $ character means a calibration attempt, so this drive is not calibrating well
the preamp and heads are detected (this drive has 2 heads) but it's in age60 like when starting with a loader, try to switch it on Age 50 and check SA modules.
if you changed heads only the CERT...
hi, i think any MCKinley with the right DCM should work, i would keep the same family for areal density match (check SPT values ;) )
about the other values on mdl:
WD2500BEVS-11UST0
customer id 11 is WD Protégé OEM
family id US is mcKinley
customer configuration code T0 should be generation 0...
hi,
if this can help on sorting donors:
WD1001FALS-00E3A0
WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0
WD10EALS-002BA0
WD10EALX-009BA0
belong to the same family (Tahoe 2D) and same SPT on SA (1296)

ciao
I can't assure anything .... :) i can tell you i used it when having Plist damage and worked, but was not a tampered drive but a damaged.
anyway if you backup all system files you can rewrite them back if you need.
this is the explanation about this option:
... the Format Client Defect...
Ciao Michael
I'm not sure this will fix it but you can try to re certificate user partition using self test defect list.
Try in level t
i4,1,22 to clean glist
m0,6,4,0,0,0,0,22 to re cert udinf ST logs.

hi guys
i think there's a misunderstanding the ROM reconstruction was a way to create rom modules without rom overlays on WD drives not F3.
on F3 i think the problem is related to adaptives, RAP and SAP above all.

hi guys,
i'd like to share something happened me about 1 week ago, i had to change heads on a M8E 1TB drive and i had no donors.
the only suitable was an M8 750GB same head map knowing they play with OD and ID more than density i changed heads and i got Grey Errors on all heads in calibration...
Hi Pclab
:(
you can check if you can find another Helios drive like a WD10TPVT-XXU4RXX that can be a good donor both for heads and PCB.
if you buy it check the spindle ;)
about this :
i have to say that we work mostly through resellers, computers shops and IT distributors, we have also few end users but are about 10%.
i think is quite better to have loyal customers collecting jobs for you, and managing the end users directly.
hi Jared,
check the label on the bottom of the HDA is on the spindle, we have found that the spindle motor may be different and the drive will not spin, in this case you will need another PCB donor with the same spindle model.
The police and forensic experts should always work on a full copy through a write blocker like a tableau or on an image file and always compare hashing value with the original one ...
As I know changing LBA content is forbidden, skipping sectors filling with defined pattern on the copy and...
i really don't think so, hd doctor use USB Bulk communication with a box that have all the commands inside, in fact you need to update the box to use latest seagate software (when they added F3 - new set of commands) and i don't think the graphic interface is similar anyhow, there are no magic...
about the clearing lists and translators are present the options, for seagate i absolutely prefer do it by terminal so you can see errors (in pc3000 are serial port commands ;) ), you can load loader, regen translator clean SMART, glist and non resident also, change head maps ... i really don't...
hoping not to bore anyone with this long post
i didn't put all available utilities but only the most used (Seagate and Western Digital)

as last preview i'd like to add a feature on the cloner that i haven't found on any other tool, the option to mount the drive in windows (in read only) preventing windows to access it (without bothering of masking first sectors to hide partitions to win) but selecting head map and skip surfaces...
reading without ECC is possible and DDI will try to match the common results, but this doesn't mean you have right content of sectors.
i personally don't like that feature, i tried and many times i had garbage content in sectors, did you checked translator and defect lists?
bye
Luca
Hi Michael,
would be interesting to see if there's something written under the label, if we can see IC model (if printed on) would be easier to check.
i hope is not inside the MCU in BGA package ...

Luca
the problem is that the only fixed ABA module in these old drives (without mod 20B) is mod 01 at ABA 0 = first sector on first used track.
you can see if you can enter utility form profile using mod 1 of your patient and in the dir editor you have ABA coordinates; if the offset is less than SPT...
hi
you guessed right where i am! :)
is there anyone else from this forum here in Prague for Ace's conference?
if so let me know we can meet and have a beer :D
well about SD i don't think they were crap when i started selling them i used a lot hd doctors for seagate on older barracudas for example, the problem is in these last years they don't update anymore ...
about the screenshots, i will upload some and some info, i only ask you to wait few days...

hi,
did you checked non resident Glist?
try V40 on level F3 T.
sometimes NOn res Glist corruption can cause partial access (it may happen using m0,2,2 ... or m0,6,2, .... commands), in case clean non res Glist with pc3000 or EDR tools.
Bye
