Platter with scratches. Can the manufacturer fix it?

Hi there. I have a Western Digital My Book Studio 2TB. One platter unfortunately has scratches and it kills heads, so data can't be pulled from there. My question is, does the manufacturer (I know that they're not in the data recovery business) have machines that can make the surface of those...

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

I wanted to know your opinion on this guy's video from HDD recovery services. He put some glue with a glue gun in a spot of the hard drive so that the new head would not hit the scratches on the platter and get destroyed. What do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmCOTz0YVfA

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Apart from the fingerprints (which Sean told me he was able to clean), the platter had no (visible) scratches at all.

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Sean said that the fingerprints were removed and the situation seemed fine but then the replacement heads were destroyed almost instantly, so maybe the problem is something else.

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Do you think it's possible that in 10 years time, technology will make progress and my hard drive will become recoverable?

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Is there anybody in this forum or outside that has proved in the past to solve impossible cases?

I would be prepared to pay if I can get the data back. If it's 4 figures and no guarantee, then no.

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Unfortunately Sean got back to me and said that the hard drive was unrecoverable. Even though he cleaned the platter and felt the situation was pretty good, he said that he used two donor drives for replacement heads and each time the new heads were destroyed almost instantly by the damaged...

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Received back the hard drive. Maybe it's never been opened although on the phone I was told that the fingerprints were in the process of being cleaned, that luckily the plates were not damaged, and that the data could be saved. I certainly don't want to open it again and check if it's in the...

Of course, it was the very first thing I said. I made the situation very clear.

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

I was called back this morning and I was told that my hard drive was received. Then the guy started asking...'But what happened, the hard drive is clicking and this and that...." which I found weird, considering that the main issue (I suppose/excuse my ignorance) is that the platter is full of...

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

The hard drive is already with them now. So I can only hope that they do a good job and recover everything. If it doesn't work with them I will contact Sean. I've been looking for all the reviews of that company on trustpilot and they are mixed. Very Good and Very Bad. Hopefully my case will be...

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Thanks for your answer. They have no recovery/ no fee. In the worst case nothing is recovered, I shouldn't pay anything (I hope), so in theory I have nothing to lose. I know that here, even in the easiest case of recovery you spend at least £300/350. This company has thousands of reviews on...

Help. Platter full of fingerprints, is there hope?

Hi everyone. Unfortunately I made a terrible mistake with my Western Digital My Book Studio 2TB External Hard Drive with Metal Enclosure. It started doing a clicking sound and couldn't be recognised by the computer. Searching for answers and solutions, I ended up watching youtube videos with...
