Windows 7 to Win10 - will all my data be lost?

Mon May 15, 2017 7:13 pm

Hi, folks
Thank you in advance for help!
I'm running Windows7 now but want to install Windows 10. Does that mean I have to say goodbye to all the files I have?

To answer your question, no, upgrading to Windows 10 should not erase all your files. However, things often go wrong during the upgrade process so you should have a complete backup before you start the process to be safe.

+1 jared's idea of a full backup! Having backups saved me several times from having to reinstall, rebuild, reload, reconfigure when something went very wrong.
