OK, so here's an odd one I'm thinking of attempting.

Patient:
WD6400AAKS-65A7B2
DCM: HGRNNV2MAB
Date: 08 Jan 2010

Donor:
WD5000AAKS-75A7B2
DCM: HHRNHV2MGB
Date: 05 Jul 2009

I know it's a smaller capacity donor, but same headmap, same preamp rev & vendor, the micro jogs for the head I actually need to work is very close, and it's about 1/6 the price of the closest match I can find of the same capacity model (which isn't even very close).

What do you guys think my chances are?

Still waiting on quote approval from customer. Not killing any donors until I at least have that in the bag.

Update: Guess we'll never know. After leaving it powered on overnight imaging the three good heads, head 1 is now reading data at full speed. Maybe just needed to warm up for a while. Perhaps it was still frozen from the last guy who had it  .

Nice! Thanks for sharing. :D Are the top ones the patient and the bottom ones the donor?

Only reason I ask is I've heard some guys mention preferring the heads from Thailand over the others.

Here's another one from today:

Patient:

WD Enterprise Velociraptor
WD4500HLHX-01JJPV
DCM: EBCV2B
19 Feb 2011
Malaysia
Headmap: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

Donor:

WD6000HLHX-01JJPV
DCM: EBCV2B
18 Mar 2011
Malaysia
Headmap: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Not much difference other than the capacity and extra head on the 600GB version. Imaged out at 100Mb/s, and this is the second time I'm using this same set of heads now.
