Yeah, except that PC-3000 actually works to see/edit the location of DIR module. MRT looks to be just all zeros, indicating that it doesn't support the model.

Is module 0B in rom contains the directory location ? I compared module 0B on both drives and it was identical so it means the directory location are the same .
So the main question remains, is wd smart hot swap is possible when ROM firmware number a little different at the end like this patient:WD7500BPVT-80HZT3 firmware 01.01A01 ROM firmware 0065000U
donor: WD7500BPVT-80HZT3 firmware 01.01A01 ROM firmware 00650018 ?

The FW version has nothing to do with anything as you'll be completely overwriting the SA with the patient tracks or modules. Nothing of the original SA should really remain, but sometimes it can cause an issue if part of the SA was bad on one or the other drive and now it's unable to write and read back a certain module from that location.
