WD my cloud

I haven't tried in Linux as I don't have a linux box. Will give that a try tomorrow using a live boot cd and see what it does. Currently have to use some WD app to live sign in to the device. Outside of that, the 3K just sees its data as junk  3 TB of loads of sub directories all just containing a few files that mean nothing.

If I'm right, if you use UFS Explorer it can "mount and see" the content of the drive.

Yes it can, but its the same result as what the 3000 sees, several partitions of different flavours and the one where all the data is stored has a good folder structure but the sizeable folder where the clients data is stored is full of thousands of folders containing more sub directories that eventually lead to data files that are just junk. Client has 500 GB of photos and a few documents, and I cannot find such data buried in this drive.
The solution appears to be making a 1:1 clone and then use its bridge to get it connected through the LAN and then via its app in windows and access the data that way. Its nasty !

Hello

Could you post some picture of the drive, enclosure and carte, because here i didn't get any trouble using an debian machine, UFS or filescavanger .

Good Luck

Decided to re-image it but use my DDI instead. Also looking at how DRE handles it.

Will try other mounting options once this is done.

18 hours later and same result, 343GB of nonsense comprising of 700, 000+ files.

Will try and mount it with Debian live today, what tools do you guys use in linux ?

The only reason I'd use Linux is just to have direct access. The file tree looks fine. The questions are, what kind of data was being stored on the drive and how was the share configured?

I mounted it today on Debian live and it mounted fine, no tools needed, the main root was present however several of the folders in the root were locked so I was unable to access them

The user data is supposed to be standard image formats and some office files, I can't find anything like that in the folders Ive looked at, they all contain the same sort of file, strange character names with no file extensions and relatively small in size too.

Im not sure what you mean about share config ? All I know is there are 2 user accounts on it that the client accessed through the web portal that WD gives you through a web browser.
