WD HDD Head Swap Experiences

I think it might be nice to have a thread here for unusual head swap experiences that worked.

Here's mine from today:

Patient:
WD2500AAJS-75M0A0
DCM: HANNNT2CH
Date: 30 Aug 2009
Head map: 0, 1

Donor:
WD3200AAKS-00L9A0
DCM: HBRNHT2CGN
Date: 01 Nov 2009
Head map: 0, 1

Works perfectly and imaging at 35MB/s :D

I wonder why/how you get to the step of testing such a different models.
What makes you go that way?

Was an expedited project and the donor was one I had in house already. Normally I might not have tried it, but because of the urgency, it was worth the risk of ruining a drive. Besides, in my estimation the correct factors did add up: Family, Headmap, Date, critical two digits of DCM. So I went for it.

I think it's worth keeping track of these experiences because it confirms which models are definitely cross compatible for heads.

In this case it was the T2 I was concerned about:

"HANNNT2CH"
"HBRNHT2CGN"

That's the really critical part. Normally though I'd try to match the NNT2 part, but it's not as critical.
