Hi!,

I have three Western Digital hard drives:

HDD 1:
SATA DAMAGED (Not turning on)
MDL: WD3200AAJS-00RYA0
DATE: 04-FEB-2007
DCM: EBNCNVJAA
MFG: Malaysia
PCB: 2061-701444-000 AA

HDD 2:
SATA WORKING 100%
MDL: WD3200AAKS-00VYA0
DATE: 11-OCT-2007
DCM: HARCNTJMAN
MFG: Thailand
PCB: 2061-701444-700 AC

HDD 3:
IDE WORKING 100%
MDL: WD3200AAJB
DATE: 21-APR-2007
DCM: HBNCHV2CB
MFG: Malaysia
PCB: 2060-701494-002

I tried swapping the PCB from HDD2 to HDD1 and it power on but make some noise and then spin off and it is not recognized in BIOS.

I tried swapping the PCB from HDD3 to HDD1 and it power on and still on all the time, but is not recognized in BIOS.

My question here is.

Can I do something with this three drives?, like swapping PCB and head stack from HDD2 or HDD3 to HDD1?

Thank You!

When you swapped the PCB, did you transfer the ROM chip? There's information stored on the PCB that is specific to each individual drive.

If you are good at soldering, you can try to swap it.
Read it without proper tools, is not possible, AFAIK.

Yeah, as jol said, you'd need someone who has a tool like PC-3000 to read the HDD's service area (stored on the platters of the drive) and then build a working ROM code. We typically charge $450 for this service, just to give you a baseline.
