Hi

I need help with this drive DT01ACA100. When I start it there is no wierd noises, heads seams ok. But when I try to start utility Hitachi 7210DLE6 it report techno key ok but cannot read modules (CP)? On any comman it reports ABR error. I have read blog on acelab ( https://blog.acelaboratory.com/2045.html ) but no success in initializing this drive. Guys please help me this is my first Toshiba 3.5" in lab?

Thanks

It's unable to read the directory module from the service area. The only option is to try new heads and hope that a new set can read better than the existing set. If it's just weak heads, this should help. But, if the heads are still good and that module is just corrupted on both copies, I'm afraid it's game over.

Thanks Jared you're good friend! I will try the head swap. I have donor Oct 2017 (patient Jan 2018), same model number, same type, but diferrent serial hope it will match?

Date doesn't matter much on HGST. If the part number is the same, the heads should work.

Hi
I have found donor from December 2017 and head swap pass well. BUT still cannot initialize the disk! When I send any command I get ABR error.

In that case, it's probably a game over situation. I don't know of any workaround for one that can't read the modules directory, and I seem to recall Ace support telling me they didn't know a method either.

Before giving up though, I'd put the original heads in my donor and test them to see if they are good. Just to be 100% sure it's not a heads issue.

No, I was suggesting you take the patient drive heads, put those in the donor and see if it works. That'll confirm whether the original heads were even bad and/or are compatible.
