Adjustments to Forum Layout

Anyone have any suggestions about the layout of the forum, it's categories, etc.? I want it to be as user friendly as possible while still keeping things organized in a way that makes sense. Please tell me if anything is annoying you and would be better if changed around.

I just check for new messages directly, without going to the forum index, and that works fine for me.

The issue with the images happened after the site switched to SSL and shouldn't affect newer threads. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to fix the old threads without having the original images to upload again.
