WD ROM

Hi

A doubt I have:
If we write a ROM from the same family from a donor into a pacient, the drive should continue to spin and doesn't spin down, right?
Or is it normal, because it's not the right ROM?
Thanks

Often it'll click and sometimes it'll spin down if the ROM code doesn't match. It mostly depends on headmap, micro jogs, and SA SPT. If those are all within tolerance, it'll likely just keep spinning silently. But, if one is off it'll act like it's bad heads.

As long as the SPT is the same, and the headmap of the donor ROM doesn't have extra heads, you should still be able to proceed with ldr upload to read tracks.

I think it depends on the family. If its a relatively 'old' ROYL like Pinnacle, Kermit etc then it should remain powered. For newer models, like Diablo, Shrek etc it may click. For pre-ROYL models it may click. In all models, if head map is different and does not match then it will click also.
