maxtor diamondmax 10 clicking noise

hi i have internal hard drive Maxtor diamonmax 10 with clicking noise problem when i check the bios the hard drive is detected with unkown capacity but not under windows any solution please??!!!

HDD : maxtor diamondmax 10 6v080e0 80gb va111630 040128000

If the drive is clicking then it isn't initializing and won't appear in BIOS with correct capacity and cannot be accessed by the computer at all. First thing you should do is remove the PCB board from the hard drive and check the contacts to be sure they are clean an not corroded. If they are corroded looking you can clean them with a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work you can try replacing the PCB, which is pretty easy on an old Maxtor.

However in all likelihood the problem is bad read/write heads and the drive will need them to be replaced in a clean room by a professional company.

To match the PCB, you'll need a PCB with the following matched:

1. Full Model Number (6v080e0)
2. Code (va111630)
3. Main IC control chip number (040128000)

I assume you knew this given that these are the specs you listed on posting. If you have any issue finding one just let me know, I'm sure I've got one laying around here.
