Is that why everyone censors out the serial number of their hard drive when the post pictures of it online.

Oh yeah. I've been amazed how many parts drives I've bought on ebay that were full of tax paperwork, banking info, passwords and everything found with nothing more than a 1min scan with R-Studio. Fortunate for them we just break the drive and use the parts, but could just as easily been bought by an identity thief.

On the other hand, I bought 10 second-hand flash devices and 5 second-hand microdrives from different sellers for the primary purpose of studying for DR and secondary intention of running GetDataBack for fun just to see. Disappointed that all microdrives were blank, and only a single 2GB flash drive had photos of Movie World holiday!!
Disappointing in one way, but actually I was impressed that some people actually think about privacy :)
