External hard driver issue

Hello everyone

I have an external laptop hard driver
when i plug it in my computer using USB, it completely slows down my computer, i can't even do any tasks.
I want to recover my datas...

Could you guys tell me what is the problem?

Note: the hard drive is functioning.

Probably it can have some bad sectors, or firmware issues. The best approach is to image it to another drive, for instance with HDDSuperclone and after search for the files with data recovery software.

If the drive have bad sectors, it's better to get a new HDD and forget about that one. The risk of failure is high and you can loose the data.
Better get a new HDD.
