Can you actually build muscle with just living room workouts, or is it all cardio?

I used to be a gym rat back in my 20s, but with two kids under 5 and a demanding job, I physically cannot get to the weight room anymore. I keep seeing ads for these streaming fitness apps (like P90X, Insanity, etc.) that claim "total body transformation." Are these programs actually effective for strength, or are they just glorified aerobics? I don't want to lose weight; I want to gain muscle back.

Don't underestimate bodyweight training! If you look at gymnasts, they are ripped. The key is intensity. Programs like Insanity will absolutely shred you and build athletic power, even if you aren't benching 300lbs. It’s functional strength. Plus, consistency is key, doing 30 minutes at home is better than skipping the gym.

I’ve cycled through a few of these platforms over the last year. I started with simple YouTube videos but needed more structure. I eventually signed up for a paid service because I wanted a calendar to follow. It worked well for accountability. I did notice that some platforms push supplements pretty hard, which can be annoying. Before committing to a long-term contract, I did my homework. I read a lot of Beachbody reviews to see if people were actually getting results without buying all the extra shakes. The consensus seemed to be that the workouts are solid if you stick to them, regardless of the nutrition upsells.
