Apple APFS Data Recovery

So has anyone here started researching APFS file system? I guess Apple has rolled it out, and it's about to start causing chaos I suspect. So far I can't find any software yet that supports it. Though, I do see this video which claims that Recon Imager can export a logical image of an APFS volume that other tools can then work with, but I'm not sure how valid that is or how much use it'll be when a volume is corrupted/formatted/etc.

Anyone have any inside tips on whether we'll see a useful data recovery tool soon?

It was actually just pointed out to me that R-Explorer appears to already have support for it. I'll have to do some testing to see if it really can do any reconstruction or if it's just supporting the filesystem when it's still working.

While on the subject of APFS, this is a hilarious video:

I guess the security isn't quite as tight as they'd like to think.

I did try Paragons APFS for Windows software a few weeks ago, which unlike their HFS+ software is free. (Probably a short term thing due to them developing it.) I can tell you that it did NOT work for me as of 2 or 3 weeks ago. I ended up just having to use an awkward PCIe adapter that could accept one of the MacBook Air's SSD and clone it to a SATA drive which I could then plug into a second MAC via SATA->USB adapter. Obviously I was kind of lucky that the drive still mounted successfully and didn't require an actual data recovery tool, but none-the-less was a pain. Good to know r-explorer could've helped.
