Suggestions for Mac recovery software and info on headers

I'd be grateful for opinions for Mac data recovery - in particular from sysdev, there're two that seem interesting choices
but there's no comparison between UFS Explorer and Recovery Explorer. Anyone know of a comparison list ?

Also -- is there a comprehensive list of headers such that I might find a sparse image and a DMG. Does anyone if theres a header or magic number for sparse images and DMGs ?

Thank you all.

They are the same company and it's really the same program. UFS is just an older version that appears to be abandoned. Recovery Explorer is a newer version with more new features such as APFS support. R-Explorer also seems to be much more stable than UFS ever was.

I highly recommend Recovery Explorer. It's quickly becoming my go-to program for many types of cases.

As to your headers, why not try opening a few of that file type in hex and see for yourself. Then post your findings.
