Someone's Running Negative SEO Against DriveSavers

Now I'm no fan of DriveSavers myself, but it looks like someone is really out to get them. I happened to be comparing some site metrics (comparing my site to theirs) and I noticed a huge jump in the number of new domains linking to them.

Then I see this:

Looks like someone is building thousands of links to their site using keywords like "viagra" and "porn" to try and get them spam boxed by google. Pretty ugly tactic from whoever is doing this.

How are those negative done? Are there any solutions against such things?

Building mass numbers of backlinks with spammy looking keywords in the anchor text will make a site appear to be a potential spam site trying to manipulate serps. The only defense is to have a really solid backlink profile already before it happens. Google is well aware of these tactics and will usually disregard such things for well-established sites with a good profile.

If it does seem to have an effect you can generate a disavow link list to submit to google letting them know you had no control over the creation of such links. I had to do that once when my site suddenly gained 100,000 links overnight all from some strange link wheel thing that was just duplicating the same content over and over onto hundreds of sites (they had scraped my url from wikipedia).
