SG 1tb 2.5 inch WDE0936Y engine stuck

Wed Oct 17, 2018 3:53 am

Greetings,
Sorry for bothering, as you may know I am a newbie on this area and still learning. So my case may easy for you but first time for me.

Yesterday I got a patient which fell from 1mt. I diagonised it as its spindle motor is not working. I have not opened case yet to see what is happening inside, just because I would like to see your thoughts.

Thank you have a nice day.

Given that it's a 2.5" drive, the most likely scenario is that the read/write heads came off the ramp and are now stuck to the platters. A professional with a clean room and the right tools & experience can possibly remove them safely and still use the original heads to recover the data. However, amateur attempts to free the heads almost always result in failed heads and possibly even severe damage to the platters.

It might be best to seek out a qualified data recovery lab in your area.
