I have a ton of DM donors in house right now so I REALLY don't want to order a VX drive to replace head 2. I have everything imaged except for that head. Anyone know if I can use DM heads on a VX drive? If not I'll order the dumb donor, but otherwise I'd love to use the stock that I have.

I got the full set a couple years ago and I've loved it. It was between ER and hdd surgery (a difference of several thousand dollars) and I went with ER. I only get sad when I have a drive that doesn't match and have to use cut up sudafed medicine blister packs instead.

Yes, making a bin image with DDI FE. When I plug the drive in, it can't see the bin file at all. I have to look at it with r-studio or something like it so get the image out usually.

Just confirmed that 701609-000 (internal ROM) works great as replacement for 701675-001 (internal ROM) Controller: 88i8946-TJF2

That did it. Got a new winbond chip (not the patient) into the spot and it detected like normal. Weird. And thanks for the help!

Haven't Moved a new chip there yet. That was my next step. I just didn't want to walk ALL THE WAY across the room to my soldering station.

You're saying Model and capacity don't matter. But I'm guessing that family still matters? EDIT: I'm asking if anyone has tried a matching ROM F/W version from a different family.

Many, many thanks to Jared and hddguy. This was exactly the issue. ROM was native. Had to figure out the read short pins, after that it took a few tries to get the timing right but got right in after that. Thanks again hddguy!

Oh geez. I will swear that I tried every cable configuration possible, but when I tried what you said it came right up. I feel sheepish. I call it lawnmower syndrome. When you're a kid your dad tells you to have the lawn mowed when he gets back, and try as you might you can't get it started...

I'm not able to get it to show up on a known good LP drive either. I'm either doing something wrong (likely) or Seagate has terminal locked down for this model.

I cannot for the life of me get terminal to show up on this Barracuda LP Drive. Does anyone have any tips? I'm almost positive that the issue is with the ROM here, but I can't mess with it unless I have terminal. The drive will work for about 5 seconds/detect on PC3k and DDI and then go...

If it helps, this is the error I get when I tried to back up the resources when the donor board was on the donor drive: Which is why I suspect the donor board is an issue.

Alright Everyone I wrote the Patient ROM onto the donor board while it was attached to the donor. Turned off the donor, swapped the boards, so now the donor SATA board is on the patient drive. That drive now detects as a hubble family drive (same as the donor) and it wants to open the utility...

Exactly. Encryption is handled differently for different versions of android, different models, and different manufacturers. I was Interested so I could research what specific circumstances apply to this phone.

You'd use the same thing that you'd use on an iPhone. Since we do dual digital forensics and data recovery we generally use the Cellebrite UFED or AccessData's MPE for those types of jobs. Stuff like BlackLight should work as well. What's going on with the ipod?
