Recover Data from WD Passport Drive

First you need to check if the drive is in good shape or not, or if it is only a logical issue. You can use VictoriaHDD for that. If it starts to show physical issues, you should image the drive, for instance, with HDDSUPERCLONE, and only after that, use data recovery software to get the data back.

How can I check that my Hard disk is not faulty ?

For the price that a 240GB SSD costs now, I think you should swap the HDD for a SSD. It will make your laptop work a lot better, and yes, most probably your drive is bad, even if that log only shows 6 bad sectors (which I doubt).

    Toshiba USB to SATA Guide

Yes, you can switch PCB, but you need to swap ROM too. Be careful with that. If you damage it, it's game over. But probably, it's not a PCB issue that you have. Maybe firmware or even a bad/weak head.

    WDC WD5000LMVW-11VEDS0 module 2 error

Even with one bad head, doing a headmap to 00 or 11 it could eventually access SA and data. Of course it will be partial..

    WDC WD5000LMVW-11VEDS0 module 2 error

Have you tried to load the loader and read the 02 from the SA?

    Kingston Phison PS3108

At the prices that new SSD are right now, I wouldn't spend too much on trying to repair a drive that already failed. You should check WHY it failed. Even if you can restore it, most probably you will have bad flash chips ending you to get a bad drive again.

    Zero size files

So, an update. After calling the client, she said that particular folder was already copied from another bad HDD, so probably it was not well copied. The data she wanted (and that it's OK), are the photos. So, case closed
  311. pclab

    Zero size files

HI Luke I don't think that was the problem. The client's problem was that the drive was not being recognized (because of that problematic head 3)...
  312. pclab

    Zero size files

Hi Guys I'm working on a drive here (a WD USB), that the issue is some reading problems on head 3. After mapping the files/folders with Data Extractor, I imaged everything without any major problems. But when analyzing the results, I can see that many files have 0 size.... These files didn't...

The complete video guide to unlock the Seagate F3 Rosewood drives

Hi This is an English written forum, so try to write in English. About your question, it will depend on what you want: great quality or less quality. If you want to have the proper tool for data recovery, choose PC3000. If not, you have MRT or DFL tools.... Cheaper, but not the same quality....

Seagate 2TB portable beeping / not readying Help!

When imaging a drive with PC3000, and "advertising" our work, we only show the green sectors (that only means that the sector was read with success), but on another tab, we usually see the files and folders (of course we don't show this or we blur it when "advertising" to protect clients data)...

Seagate 2TB portable beeping / not readying Help!

I'm sorry to say, but you have done everything that shouldn't be done. I should ask you: if you have a disease, you don't go to the doctor? Why don't you trust on a Professional that will keep things classified? Regarding your case: 1: Heads 2: No 3: Nope, never. You also say the platter seems...

    any suggestions for my problem

I know a Guy in Egypt. The name is Tawfeek Mokthar. About your problem, by the way you say, you need a head swap (if it clicks), but we can't do a real diagnose without the drive in hands... Maybe also damage on the platters....

I don't know what you mean to expensive.... I have made quotes of 20€ and it was expensive and made quotes of 700€ and it was cheap... I all depends if your data is important and if you can pay for it or not. If data is not important or you can't pay, then move on.... I know there are guys out...

PLC NAND - The end of HDD recovery is near!

Yeap, that's the problem. That's why I still think we will see HDD's for more time, because they still are reliable and the backups will be done for them.
