I don't know if its just me, but i was not able to successfully release the heads of a WD drive with "stiction" so far and I have come across a handful of them. One or more heads tend to always break off against the ramp... :twisted:

The image is on a 3.5" HDD and with out the encryption key I can't get jack out of it. I just had to have it to be on the safe side. I guess I'll try to save the key to file like u said and try to use it to decrypt the image if I can. Thanks a lot guys...will get back with the result

Boy this IC602 on these PCBs is hard to remove. I'm using a regular soldering iron and a hot air gun. Is there any particular method to do it? what do you guys use? How come there is no way to read the ROM without physically moving it? :?

Hi Everyone, A ST380211A Tonka2 drive, comes ready with a faint buzzing(cranking) noise. It Id's Mdl, Serial, FW and Capacity correct. But in terminal it gives ErrCode 43 continuously. I have attached the Screen shot. Does this indicate the "pending bug" or lots of bad sectors?

Inside is a 500GB flash drive, the funny thing is the client said he's been using it for 2 months without any problem. Turns out the only issue was the wire connecting to the external USB got loose...

This just showed up the other day enclosed in a WD My Passport casing...scared the hell out of me :shock: for real...i almost called the bomb squad :D
