Try to write from donor, then after writing if successful try to run relo fix to clear any donor relo defets and ...

Re: Seagate Kahuna "Waiting drive spin up" Error

the Kahuna series are usually hybrid sshd and can init from nand memory, if HDD has issues it can still initialise but data can't be read. if PCB is at fault and it is in fact sshd then PCB replacement will be extremely difficult as nand can contain information like rom and sa and is accessed first ...

Do you have access to the SA? If yes, can you regenerate native ROM from mod #109?

Re: Change Model and Serial number

I recently work on a IDE Toshiba drive from a vehicle, we cloned it to a similar but not identical IDE Toshiba, then adjusted ID to correlate with the original. This worked well for the client. Not sure if this is helpful to you.

Re: WD ROM

I think it depends on the family. If its a relatively 'old' ROYL like Pinnacle, Kermit etc then it should remain powered. For newer models, like Diablo, Shrek etc it may click. For pre-ROYL models it may click. In all models, if head map is different and does not match then it will click also.

This is your time to short, usually during calibration. Once calibrated and SMART is cleared, repower it and it should be poss...
