Are the drives different? Not really. They are the exact same family drive and generally comparable in every way.

Should you use them in a RAID? No, absolutely not. Green drives are not suited for RAID as their power-saving functions can lead to chaos in a RAID.

If you've got at least one system head that's working you can. You'd just need to modify the RAM to disable all but the good system head so it can ID and you can get that info from the drive. But, if there are no good heads, then no.
