Yeah, as jol said, you'd need someone who has a tool like PC-3000 to read the HDD's service area (stored on the platters of the drive) and then build a working ROM code. We typically charge $450 for this service, just to give you a baseline.

Plenty of experience, but not the kind we can share in a single post with very little information to actually go by.

Most likely either the heads are toast or the firmware is botched up really badly.

When you swapped the PCB, did you transfer the ROM chip? There's information stored on the PCB that is specific to each individual drive.

Just match the "8E" in the serial number and the "164" in the part number. Then just buy the one with the closest date you can find. That usually does the trick. B6 is a less than common preamp though, not sure I've even encountered that one yet. Is it a standard 0 1 2 3 head map...
