Yes, I agree with Blizzard, we have almost the entire set of headcombs, and I have tried others made from plastic and some made from metal. None work as well as the Helpdisk tools. SP - Switch ARRE mode. (Enable/disable) but only in RAM, on reset and power it will reset to on.

One way is to sysfile 035 from the drive to the sysfile-editor, then load the file from disk to the editor and write - do for both copies.

This is not the translator issue. There is a terminal command that turns off bad sector reallocation, it is well known so I wont repost it here, however, when the drive soft or hard resets and on power cycle the reallocation flag is turned back on resulting with slow reads.
