After EaseUS deep scan can't find my files :(

OMG that YT idiot. Over 7 million views, sigh. Cloning primary goal is to get as much data as possible to another disk or image file. If files will be there after cloning is not the question, cloning is the priority in itself. Cloning does not care about files, it copies sectors, initially in a sequ...

HDDSuperClone

Too bad. From what I read it's an excellent tool with lots of potential that can compete with more expensive solutions. However in my experience this 'freemium' type model (where you have a free version that offers very usable functionality) you're using does not work for this type of software. Amou...

Android Ransomware that Encrypts JPGs and Video

I see these all the time. I think it is Android file based encryption. Entropy in such files also suggests encryption. No one was able to point me anywhere, I asked several places, here's one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Smartphoneforensics/comments/9fhvlh/android_encryption/ and here: https://www.redd...

Corrupted files after hard disk data recovery

Hello, There's no way to fix this. They're simply not XLS files. Simply rename "Project Management_Risk Control Matrix_Testing_Client_Back up Desktop.xls" to test.jpg and you'll see what I mean. With file system based undelete, a recovery tool finds a reference to a file with 'not in use' ...

Corrupted files after hard disk data recovery

That's the header of a JPEG. I can't see the filename /extension, so I have to ask: Did you expect it to be a JPEG or something else? - If a JPEG then can you send the whole file so I can see if it's complete? - If you expected it to be another file type then your recovery software did something wro...

Corrupted files after hard disk data recovery

Can you use for example HxD, open one of the corrupt files and post a screenshot? And also, is this hard drive from which the files were deleted a conventional disk or SSD?

For those interested I changed it around a bit: At some point JpegDigger RAW > JPEG was moved to JPEG-Repair and then there was no more JpegDigger. Few months forward: I needed a no thrills JPEG carver and since then I have added functionality. Thought it needed a name and I decided to recycle the n...
