I just noticed this controller: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/seagat ... 29289.html

Not sure if it's new, but with Seagate and Sandforce working together we are all doomed. They will be impossible to recover.  :(

Exactly! Talk about a pair made in hell. Now they'll be hopelessly encrypted and have a 40% annual failure rate, haha.

But the 60% that don't fail too soon will be $20 bucks cheaper than anyone else and the SandForce will be slightly faster, though unnoticeable, and use really cool (invisible to the user) algorithms and keep the data safe from people that wouldn't ever access it that way to steal it anyway.. So who wouldn't take the 60/40 gamble for that awesome technology sitting there humming away(and sometimes clicking.. yes, they are even clever enough to get a flash drive clicking!)

Yes, they had to install a solenoid relay on there just to get the Seagate signature clicking down.
