Seagate always Busy No HOST FIS-ReadyStatusFlags 2002B001

Wed Jul 08, 2015 12:48 pm

Hi

Got this drive today, already opened by the client.
I have checked heads and platters and they seem fine though..
The drive clicks a bit, but doesn't spin down.
Here's the log output.

What do you think? Heads?

The serial number I get after CTRL+L is the same as the label.

Just to follow up with this thread, for those who encounter a Seagate 7200.12 drive with these symptoms, you should stop powering the drive on and check in the the clean room right away.

Did you try translator regen? Maybe you can patch ROM to stop No Host error and to force DRDY status then enter in eslip mode after regen translator. Can you read sectors like this?
