you can analyse the LVM info under Linux to get more info. For the X-RAID they implement for the most part a JBOD array with 1 dedicated disk for redundancy data that operates like XOR.

Interesting.... I wonder if X-RAID2 is similar. I was thinking it was more of a RAID 5 setup, never though to try as if it were a JBOD. Even the guys over at NetGear seemed to think that was the case. I think the other guy did already try scanning a few of the disks independently to see what was recoverable. I'll have to check with him to see how he ever made out.
