Home work is done. successfully adopted a different ROM and solution will work on most of the WD drives which has no SA copies of ROM.

I am just curious did you verify if ROM is original or not ? As Luke mentioned already, if drive clicks and spin down, it is very likely head/media problem.

its possible to brute force if you can find a pair of file both encrypted and decrypted version larger than 150KB in size.

We just received same one (SMI NVX 656) controller with exactly same symptoms, assume there is no solution so far. I wonder where we will go with so much limitation on SSD recoveries... :)
