So this is a mystery to me. I happened to read this on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/datarecovery/c ... h=fcdfc439
Then I notice this on ripoffreport.com regarding the same company the reddit OP had used: https://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ai ... e-c-579678
Curious to know more, I decided to look the company up and find out more info about them.
[glow=blue]This is where it gets really interesting[/glow]
I discover that DriveCrash Data Recovery is located right next door to Data Mechanix, another data recovery company. You can see them here right on Google street view (unit 12B and 12C same building):
So what's going on? No commercial landlord would ever let a second business of the exact same type open up next door to their tenant unless they were working together or had some sort of agreement together. I know I'd sue my landlord if he rented another space in this building to a competitor.
Who would even want to be so close to the competition?
So what's the scoop? Anyone know?
It looks suspiciously like one company is just a sales operation probably marking up the prices astronomically and then just walking the drives next door for the actual recovery. But, which one is actually the data recovery company? The whole thing stinks of suspicious activity to me. We all know there's no shortage of scammers in this industry.
Or maybe are they both just sales offices and the cases are just going to Secure Data Recovery (also located in Irvine, CA)???
