Hello
I work with a Maxtor Diamond plus 9 which I found to have a bad PCB shorted. What I assume is that the CR200 (TVS?) Is dead.

What happens if I remove it? do I need to replace it? can i run the hard drive without it?

If the problems are the TVS, you can run the drive without them. However, if you want to keep the drive working on the client, I suggest you to replace them, since they are a barrier to avoid that a power surge don't go scorch the rest of the HDD.

It`s just for data recovery. The TVS is shorted to ground.
